The Year That Changed Me Quietly '25

Dear 2025,

Sitting with the last few hours of the year feels unfamiliar. Somewhere between silence and nostalgia, I realised that the version of me who entered January no longer exists by December. Not in a dramatic way just quietly. The kind of quiet that teaches you how much growth can happen without anyone noticing.

2025 didn’t come with clear answers. It came with lessons: subtle, uncomfortable, and necessary ones.

This year taught me that not everyone who starts with you will end with you. And that doesn’t make the time spent any less real. Some people walk with you just long enough to shape you, teach you, or show you parts of yourself you hadn’t met before. Letting go of that truth was hard, but holding on to it was harder.

I learned that silence can be heavier than words. That some things end without closure, without fights, without explanations and that acceptance is sometimes the only closure you get. I learned that it’s okay to stop explaining myself to people who were never listening to understand.

This year also taught me the importance of boundaries. That protecting your peace isn’t selfish. That self-respect often asks you to walk away from things you once wanted to hold on to. And that growth doesn’t always feel empowering, sometimes it just feels lonely before it feels freeing.

But 2025 wasn’t only about endings. It surprised me too. With new people. New connections. New versions of myself. It showed me that even when you feel lost, life has a way of placing the right people in your path at the right time...sometimes when you least expect it.

Some of the most unexpected lessons this year came from friendship, the ones that changed me, even when they didn’t stay. That’s something I want to reflect on more deeply as the new year begins.

I’m grateful for the moments that felt light. For laughter that came easily. For conversations that felt safe. For the nights that reminded me that joy still exists, even in between confusion and change.

As this year ends, I’m leaving behind the need to please everyone, the habit of overthinking every emotion, and the fear of choosing myself. I’m carrying forward honesty, awareness, and the courage to trust my instincts a little more.

I don’t know what 2026 holds. I don’t have a list or a perfect plan. But I’m stepping into it more aware, more grounded, and more myself than I was a year ago.

And maybe that’s enough. 

What I learned this year was clear: You don't have to chase what's already written for you. What's meant to find you will recognise you when the time is right!

Thank you, 2025 — for everything you gave, everything you took, and everything you taught me!🫶🏻

As this year draws to a close, I want to offer a quiet thank you to the ones who stayed, to those who taught me something without meaning to, to those who cared deeply, and even to the ones who walked away. Every presence, every absence, shaped a part of me.

Remember all my lovelies, Nothing is a coincidence. Every soul you meet is written in your destiny to teach you, to heal you or...to love you.🤍
